Plot[]

A sedan pulls up to a depository. Four men in balaclavas exit the vehicle with shotguns and proclaim a robbery, aggressively rummaging through the store. An itinerant man walks through an alleyway past the depository holding a sign reading "The End is Near." He continues to limp past a convenience store where a shopkeeper is seen washing blood off of the sidewalk into a gutter drain. As two police cars drive towards the direction of the robbery, the screen advances upward showing two detectives in a room inside a tower block. They discuss the homicide of John the Marksman and suspect he was thrown out his window.

Hours before, Joe the Marksman and G-Guy are having a discussion regarding Chrome IV, the robotic descendent of Chrome. The two state their distrust towards the emotionally distant android, with G-Guy claiming that he saw IV with a tetragonal apparatus reminiscent to that of a bomb, but both Joe and G-Guy put these allegations to a rest. Eventually, Joe decides to head home and G-Guy offers him a ride. On the way to Joe's abode, the two friends pass by several iconic locations and landmarks in Nicktropolis, including the Nicktropolis Elementary School. Joe begins to reminisce about his past and has a heart-to-heart talk with G-Guy before leaving. As Joe enters his residence, he receives a call from his dad John the Marksman, who asks him to visit him because he has something to show him. Joe lies and says the team has him working overtime. Joe feels immediately guilty for lying afterwards. John grunts and hangs up, then beginning to observe what he wanted to show Joe: a translucent gem.

In present-day 3023, members of the ACS, friends, and family are attending John's funeral, a gargantuan event. As Collector delivers John's eulogy, Joe uncontrollably sobs as he is overwhelmed with grief. Joe refuses to believe John has passed; his father had always been depicted as invincible. Already showing signs of the Kübler-Ross model, Joe heatedly storms off and attempts to refute John's death. G-Guy attempts to go after him but is stopped by Rachel, another member of the ACS and Joe's ex-girlfriend, who goes instead. Rachel tries persuading Joe to stay but he doesn't listen and leaves anyways to his dad's apartment in City Square.

At the same time, a figure sneaks into John's apartment to scrutinize the crime scene. He finds a secret area of John's cabinet, which reveals weapons, gadgets, and an old photograph of the original ACS of 2023. As the figure prepares to leave, Joe breaks into John's apartment raucously and is surprised to find Outcast there, another member of the ACS. Joe is bemused and decides to assume Outcast was John's murderer, as criminals tend to double back to the crime scene. Outcast, however, didn't kill John, as he is known for being nosey and sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. Joe inconsiderately doesn't listen and a physical fight initiates between the two. However, things take a turn for the worse when Joe tackles Outcast out of the same window John fell out of. Outcast manages to adhere to the side of the building while Joe fortunately converts the garbage bin below into a bed, as he is capable of matter manipulation.

The issue ends with Outcast fleeing. Elsewhere, someone observes the translucent gem John had earlier. The man drops the gem on a table beside him and looks at several coffins on the floor of his room, but the angle prevents viewers from distinguishing who's in the coffins. A hand reaches out from within one of the coffins.
